Hello and happy Friday! By now, I am sure most of you have heard that this year is St. Monica-St George’s 25th Anniversary. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments as a parish, as well as reminisce on all of the memories we have made together.
I have only been a part of St. Mogo these last few years. I know that that may seem like a long time to those of you who are new students, but to me, these last few years have gone by remarkably fast. I can remember starting my first year of college and seeking out the Newman Club because I wanted to meet other students who cared about their faith and would help me learn more about mine. St. Mogo has helped me with these things and has made a huge impact on my life because of it. Through participating in the Newman Club, I have been able to learn more about my Catholic faith and I have been able to build a deeper relationship with God.
When I look back on my college experience a few years from now, I will not remember the times I spent studying for exams and working on homework nearly as much as I will remember the times I spent with the Newman Club. I will remember rosary nights and adoration. I will remember spring break mission trips to David, Kentucky and St. Louis, Missouri. I will remember our weekend trip to Philadelphia to see the Pope. I will remember our Dodgeball and Ultimate Frisbee teams and how much fun we had (even if the score didn’t show it). I will remember movie nights, swing dancing, formal, and Las Posadas. I will remember our adventures to Newport, to the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky, and to Skyline Chili. I will remember waking up at 2:30 in the morning for breakfast brigade when I had 8 A.M. classes. I will remember praying the steps of the Holy-Cross Immaculata Parish at Midnight on Good Friday in the rain. I will remember small groups, bible studies, retreats, and Thursday dinners. Most of all, I will remember and cherish all of the wonderful friendships that I have made with the students and parishioners of St. Mogo.
Some of these experiences challenged me, like the mission trips, while others were simpler, like the movie nights, but they each helped shape me into the person that I am today. I know that many of you share these same experiences with me and have learned from them and grown from them as well.
St. Mogo has been a big part of my life these last few years and I am very grateful for that. I cannot wait to see what next year has in store and what new experiences we will have that will help us all grow closer to God.
God bless,
Meagan
Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
